Sug Woo Shin is a number theorist with a particular interest in the Langlands program. One of his main interests is to study the geometry and cohomlogy of Shimura varieties and Rapoport-Zink spaces to obtain arithmetic applications, most prominently establishing local and global Langlands correspondences between automorphic representations and Galois representations. He is also investigating various applications of the Arthur-Selberg trace formula such as the twisted endoscopy for unitary groups and statistical questions about automorphic forms.
